ABOUT US

The Florida Center for Reading Research is a multidisciplinary research center at Florida State University that was established in 2002 by the Governor’s office and Legislature. Currently, FCRR is home to ten tenured and tenure-track faculty members holding joint appointments with the College of Arts & Sciences, College of Education, and College of Social Work. In addition, FCRR has affiliate faculty in the College of Social Work, School of Teacher Education, and School of Communication Sciences and Disorders.

OUR FELLOWSHIPS

We are recruiting for 2 Doctoral Program Fellowships in Reading Research-

Florida Interdisciplinary Research Fellows in Education Sciences (FIREFLIES):

Join the next generation of education researchers with the necessary research, leadership, entrepreneurial, and professional skills to increase the quality, accessibility, use, and relevance of education research and to improve reading outcomes for all learners. Focused on the interdisciplinary study of reading, 5 doctoral fellows will be prepared to succeed as education researchers in a variety of contexts, including institutions of higher education, local and state education agencies, and nonprofit research organizations.

ANNUAL FUNDING PACKAGE (3 YEAR PROGRAM)

$34,000 stipend
Up to $12,000 to cover tuition and student health insurance
$2,000 Research, Travel, Engagement, and Development Fund

Students will apply through their doctoral program, with some deadlines as early as December 1, 2021. Interviews for FIREFLIES will begin in early 2022, so applicants are encouraged to apply to their doctoral program as early as possible and no later than January 1, 2022. Preparing the Next Generation of Reading Disabilities and Dyslexia Researchers (R2D2):

Led by faculty in the School of Teacher Education (STE) and the Florida Center for Reading Research (FCRR), the R2D2 doctoral training program will produce 5 scholars ready to train effective teachers, conduct rigorous research, and lead the field. With partners in schools and communities throughout the nation, R2D2 scholars will join a thriving inclusive and interdisciplinary intellectual community dedicated to advancing the science of reading to improve learning and achievement for all leaners.
