Great Teaching at Brooke
We know that great teachers are made, not born, so we direct all of our resources toward building a culture that reveres, develops, and supports great teaching. Brooke teachers are lifelong learners.
Associate teachers and Master Teachers alike are constantly learning how to become the best possible educators. We achieve this through nearly 300 hours of professional development, frequent observations and feedback (at least 30 per year), and collaboration and co-planning.
We believe great teaching closes the achievement gap
We define great teaching in three key ways:
- Our teachers’ instruction puts the thinking on students
- Great teaching ensures that students are challenged and known
- We utilize rigorous standards alongside rigorous assessments
These practices work together in service of our mission to ensure Brooke students are prepared to attend and succeed in college and beyond.

Brooke’s Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
We believe in the power of diversity and inclusion, including, but not limited to, race, ethnicity, culture, religion, language, socioeconomic status, citizenship, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, and physical abilities. We believe that diverse working teams make better decisions that strengthen our Brooke community. We want our students and staff to be people who seek to understand the perspectives of others and who constantly seek to walk in the shoes of others across lines of difference.
