A DIVERSITY RECRUITMENT AFFILIATE

Young Audiences New York, Inc

ABOUT US

We believe art can be a catalyst to create equity and opportunity for New York City’s youth, their families, and communities. Founded in 1952, YANY continues to act as explorer and trailblazer in the field of arts education. Our innovative programming expands from inside the classroom out into the surrounding neighborhood, integrating art-making with youth development and community engagement. Through the process of creating and sharing art, children build important life skills, grow social networks, and affirm their belief in a positive future. YANY is a local affiliate of Young Audiences Arts for Learning, the nation’s largest arts-in-education network.

OUR DIVERSITY & EQUITY

We believe that no matter what kind of work today’s children will go on to do as tomorrow’s grown-ups, they will need to be confident experimenting and innovating, influencing others, expressing new ideas, thinking globally, and teaming up with a diversity of people to make things happen. Young Audiences New York helps children develop these important 21st century skills through programs led by our talented and diverse company of professional Artist Educators and key relationships with school and community partners, donors, and funders.

OUR TEACHER RECRUITMENT

Each year, our profressional, practicing artists teach more than 45,000 children and youth in New York City’s public schools and community centers. For many of these children and their families, Young Audiences New York provides their only access to the arts.

Children. Their creativity–and their joy when they have the chance to create–are what move me to Action. Children growing up in poverty have so very few opportunities to actually create, and that is just Absurd, because we all know (and tons of research proves) that when children create art, they do better in school, work and life–and their creativity will in fact change our city and even the world. A for Art for All Children. It’s not just nice, it’s necessary!
