About Us

Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) is the largest school district in Wisconsin. As of the 2015–16 school year, MPS served 75,568 students in 154 schools and had 9,636 full-time equivalent (FTE) staff positions.

Milwaukee Public Schools offerings include neighborhood schools, specialty schools and charter schools serving students as young as age 3 up through grade 12.

The Office of Contracted School Services promotes innovative educational opportunities by recruiting and retaining high quality charter and partnership schools, while providing assistance and accountability which supports schools’ ability to effectively meet students’ needs.

The Office of Contracted Schools will create a collaborative culture where high quality charter and partnership schools are given autonomy to effectively implement their educational programs while being held accountable for results which ultimately have a positive impact on the entire school district.
