Pinellas Multicultural Advisory Committee

The Principal’s Multicultural Advisory Committee (PMAC) is a multicultural student leadership program designed to empower students to have a positive, sustainable impact on the culture and climate of their schools and communities. The program became a school board mandate in order to ensure that students had the right to attend a school where all ethnic and cultural heritages are welcomed and respected. The multicultural committee members represent a balance of students by gender and grade level, and representing a cross section of the racial, religious, and cultural backgrounds of the students at the school.

Transition to Teaching

Alternative Certification is designated for those who are not certified through a college of education and want a career change. Our district Professional Development Program, called the Transition to Teaching Program (TTT), is available to middle, high school, and adult education new hires who need their professional teaching certificate. This program is also available to those who want to be an art or music elementary education teacher.

OUR DIVERSITY

“This has been the greatest teaching experience an African American male could ever ask for! Students tend to migrate and attach to the love that you can offer. Our youth lack strong role models, and being able to allow my presence to change the lives of the youth at PCS/Lealman Avenue has been one of the great rewards a teacher can ask for. “

Mr. Floyd Howze, 5th grade Teacher at Lealman Avenue Elementary School in St. Petersburg, FL
