What Constitutes Diversity?
We view diversity holistically, understanding that the definition is constantly evolving. Our definition of diversity includes but is not limited to race, ethnicity, color, nationality, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, class, religion, disability, age, military status, visa status, economic status, geographic location, and language/linguistic ability. Diverse and well-reasoned ideas, approaches, and experiences are also essential parts of inclusion and equity.

Our Programs
The College of Education, Health and Society offers a wide variety of graduate courses, workshops and masters programs to K-12 professionals. Whether you are interested in updating your skills, adding a new license, adding an endorsement to a current license, or earning a graduate degree, we have something for you.
Our programs are offered in a variety of formats and locations, including both fully online and hybrid (a combination of face-to-face and online). Many courses and workshops are available at Miami’s Voice of America Learning Center, conveniently located off I-75 in West Chester, providing easy access to educators in Southwest Ohio.
The MAT is typically a two-and-a-half year program, depending on the content courses you have already completed, when you start the program, and whether or not you take summer courses. Licensure programs in early and middle childhood are only available at the undergraduate level. If you have a degree and want licensure in early or middle childhood, you must apply as an undergraduate student and take all undergraduate courses.
With a focus on Leadership, Culture and Curriculum, this program features a set of core classes and a self-designed concentration reflecting your interests and career focus. Core classes provide a foundation in the disciplines of educational leadership, administration, curriculum theory, and cultural foundations.
Diversity and high caliber define largest incoming class
This year’s Presidential Fellows were selected from the most academically accomplished applicant pool in Miami’s 210-year history.
As of May 1, the national deadline for students to confirm their college enrollment, more than 4,500 students had confirmed Miami as their school of choice, an increase of more than 10 percent compared to last year.
Selected from the most academically accomplished applicant pool ever received, the incoming Class of 2023 boasts an ACT average of 28.1 and a grade point average of 3.78.
