HUMAN RESOURCES
The human resources department provides programs and services in terms of recruitment, benefits, compensation, labor relations, policies and procedures, teacher certification, professional development, and other employee-related issues that support our school system’s academic mission and our employees. In partnership with administration we strive to create a supportive work environment that will help us attract, develop, motivate and retain a diverse workforce and inspire excellence in our school community. Our core values that are woven into every aspect of human resources management include customer service, communication, continuous improvement, teamwork, and achieving results.
DIVERSITY & EQUITY
Our World Languages
The fundamental purpose of World Language instruction in Queen Anne’s County Public Schools (QACPS) is to provide equitable access to rigorous coursework that enable students to communicate in a new language in a culturally appropriate way. The linguistic and cultural experiences that come from World Language studies are essential for citizens in the global community and 21st century marketplace.
Seal of Biliteracy
QACPS is excited to announce our participation in the Maryland Seal of Biliteracy! This prestigious award acknowledges high school seniors who have attained high levels of proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in one or more languages in addition to English. Graduates who earn this prestigious honor are required to pass the English PARCC exam and score at least intermediate high proficiency on a county-approved language exam. Students eligible for attaining the Seal will receive special recognition for being a Seal of Biliteracy Candidate on their high school transcripts and those who receive this award will receive the Seal of Biliteracy Medal.
New Teacher Induction Program
Queen Anne’s County Public Schools’ new teacher induction program begins with a 5-day orientation program prior to the return of all staff. During that orientation, all new teachers meet centrally one day to learn the overview of county including vision, mission, and philosophy. They are greeted by the Superintendent, Board members, Assistant Superintendent and others. The supervisor of the induction program leads a workshop during which teachers reflect upon how they plan to begin the school year, manage their classroom, plan lessons, etc. and novice teachers meet their mentors. The remaining four days are divided among school-based sessions covering topics from attendance and discipline through planning instruction and assessment and county sessions with content supervisors who outline the curriculum and discuss subject-specific strategies for instruction and assessment.

Our SUPERINTENDENT
A measurable improvement in the quality of professional development offered to all educators in Richmond Public Schools has been a trademark of Dr. Kane’s leadership. Other accomplishments include launching the district’s Early College Academy, in partnership with J. Sargent Reynolds Community College, where students will earn their Associate’s Degree by the end of their senior year in high school and the opening of Aspire Academy; a credit recovery and acceleration program designed to increase the likelihood of earning a high school diploma and decrease the drop-out rate for the district’s most challenged overage, under-credited high school students. She established structures for systemic improvement while achieving balanced academic and fiscal accountability.
