Dr. J. Scott Smith has been part of St. Mary’s County Public Schools since 1991, starting as an English teacher at Leonardtown High School. He has also served as the principal of the school and has held various administrative positions. In 2015, he became the Superintendent of Schools. Dr. Smith holds a Bachelor’s degree in English Education, a Master’s Degree in Human Resources, and a Doctorate of Education. He and his wife, Michelle, have three boys, all of whom attended and graduated from St. Mary’s County Public Schools.
