Dr. Mark Bedell is the Superintendent of Anne Arundel County Public Schools, a role he began on July 1, 2022. Previously, he led Kansas City Public Schools to full accreditation for the first time in over 20 years. Dr. Bedell is known for his commitment to educational equity, having established an innovative Equity Policy in Kansas City.

He has received numerous accolades, including the 2023 Joseph E. Hill Superintendent of the Year and recognition as one of the most influential people in the Kansas City region. At AACPS, Dr. Bedell has fostered community engagement through “Listening and Learning” sessions and “Community Conversations” tours.

Dr. Bedell is a dedicated advocate for student success, frequently sharing his personal experiences to inspire students. He lives with his wife, Robyn, and their three children, two of whom are HBCU students, while the youngest attends middle school in AACPS.
