Michael Giles, Jr. became the 17th superintendent of Aurora Public Schools in July 2023. With over 20 years of experience in the Cherry Creek School District, he has held roles such as Assistant Superintendent of Equity, Culture and Community Engagement. Mr. Giles holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology and anthropology from Colorado Mesa University and a master’s degree in educational counseling from the University of Phoenix.

A long-time resident of Aurora, Mr. Giles is committed to fostering an inclusive education system that recognizes and builds on each student’s strengths. Born in Queens, New York, he has lived in several states and England due to his father’s military service, giving him a unique perspective on the challenges students face.
