Dr. Michelle C. Reid became superintendent of Fairfax County Public Schools on July 1, 2022. Previously, she was superintendent for Northshore School District in Bothell, Washington, and before that, she served as superintendent of South Kitsap School District in Port Orchard, Washington. Dr. Reid is known for her strong instructional leadership and was named AASA National Superintendent of the Year in 2021. In her short time with Fairfax County Public Schools, she has already completed a listening tour and launched a strategic plan development process. Dr. Reid is committed to excellence, equity, and access to opportunities for every student in public education.
