DIVERSITY & EQUITY IN EDUCATION

About Us
Since 1785, Episcopal Academy has transformed from a small schoolhouse to an expansive, state-of-the-art campus. The Episcopal Academy, located in Newtown Square, PA, offers college preparatory education for more than 1,200 boys and girls from PK-12th Grade in three units: Lower, Middle and Upper schools.
It has embraced coeducation to inspire boys and girls to learn and achieve together. Its classroom learning has developed into an innovated curriculum that provides students with dynamic opportunities in the classroom, off campus, and online.
Through so many changes over 230 years, some things remain the same: Episcopal’s dedicated faculty, challenging academics, and unwavering commitment to challenge and nurture Mind, Body, and Spirit.
Mission & Vision
At The Episcopal Academy, we take a robust approach to Mind, Body, and Spirit as an holistic approach to educating, nurturing, and developing boys and girls. We do not believe that Mind, Body, and Spirit are competing interests, but rather that the three are clearly inseparable and mutually reinforcing.
Our Culture, Diversity & Equity
By approaching teaching, learning, and community building with a focus on diversity, we strengthen our ability to attract and retain a broad range of talented and engaged families and employees. We recognize that diversity includes everyone and has many dimensions, including, but not limited to: gender, geography, learning style, physical challenges, race, ethnicity, politics, religion, sexual orientation, socio-economic background, and diverse gifts and talents.
Our efforts toward inclusivity are rooted in our school motto, Esse Quam Videri (“To Be, Rather Than To Seem To Be”), as we aspire to be an authentically and consistently inclusive community. Our mission is to instill in each child a genuine sense of curiosity, kindness, and moral obligation toward others.
Our Recruitment
More than 70 percent of Episcopal’s 200 faculty members hold advanced degrees and 100 have served the Academy for ten years or more. Our “Mind, Body, Spirit” approach to educating children offers faculty the opportunity to serve as teachers, coaches and advisors and to develop meaningful, lasting relationships with students and with the entire school community.
Episcopal is committed to being a diverse community and is working towards becoming more diverse. Currently we have 10% faculty of color and 26% students of color. Episcopal also values socioeconomic and religious diversity and while we are an Episcopal School, we have many different faiths represented in both the faculty and student body.
Teachers Salaries
Average Teachers Salaries $60,000 (year)

We believe……
The Episcopal Academy does not discriminate in employment opportunities or practices on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, national origin, age, disability and familial affiliation or any other characteristic protected by law. We seek candidates who hope to help foster a school environment where all people are valued and where all perspectives are respected and appreciated, as described in our Diversity and Inclusion statement.
