St. Mary's County Public Schools
DIVERSITY RECRUITMENT PartnerOur Students. Our Future.
Mary’s County Public Schools, located in Leonardtown, Maryland, serves over 18,000 students. A mixture of suburban and rural communities, this school district sits at the confluence of the Potomac River, Patuxent River and Chesapeake Bay. St. Mary’s Public Schools’ system is large enough to offer a wide variety of academic programs and services, yet small enough to maintain an atmosphere of friendliness, helpfulness, and personalized service.
St. Mary’s County Public Schools recognizes that the talent and commitment of our employees are our most valuable assets. The quality of your application and evidence of a strong work ethic are critical considerations. Evidence of effective professional practice is weighted heavily in the review of applications for administrative and certificated or licensed positions.

OUR OUTSTANDING STAFF
St. Mary’s County Public Schools offers all staff an exciting challenge and an opportunity for growth. The system’s administration and staff are determined to make St. Mary’s County Public Schools one of the top systems in the state. With a focus on curriculum, staff development, quality schools, and parental involvement, St. Mary’s County Public Schools will meet this goal.
Welcome to St. Mary’s County Public Schools (SMCPS) where over 94% of our students graduate ready to take on the challenges of college or careers. With almost 18,000 students, our school system is large enough to offer a wide variety of academic programs and services, yet small enough to maintain an atmosphere of friendliness, helpfulness, and personalized service. Our work is driven by three planning documents. :
* Bridge to Excellence Master Plan
* Educational Facilities Master Plan
* Capital Improvement Plan
We understand that education must engage students and align to their interests and aspirations. To do this, we provide a tailored educational experience to our learners, offering choice of courses and academic pathways. We are particularly proud of our signature academic pathways: the STEM Academy, The Academy of Global International Studies, The National Academy of Finance and our newest addition, the Academy of Visual and Performing Arts. Couple this with our James A. Forrest Career and Technology Center and the possibilities for our students reflects the needs of the 21st Century.
DIVERSITY & EQUITY
St. Mary’s County Public Schools’s “Equity Matters” platform highlights celebrations in Educational Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Achievement in all of our school communities while providing resources and support for promoting excellence and equity for students, families, and communities.
