OUR PROMISE

Vision

Our commitment to excellence and continued, purposeful innovation will make Weston Public Schools the standard in designing educational pathways and environments that cultivate empowered citizens of the global community.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Weston Public Schools, as a caring and supportive community partnership, is to empower each student to achieve success and contribute to our global society by developing and cultivating character, knowledge and creativity through a dynamic learning experience that challenges each student to continually pursue personal excellence.

Teach. Learn. Love.

Weston is an exemplary learning community – for students and adults.  Weston educators, partnering with leaders in education, extend the frontiers of teaching and learning.  Recognizing that classroom teachers are key to student success, we provide extensive professional development.  Professional learning is integrated throughout the school year, including two days fully dedicated to Weston educators sharing knowledge and best practices.  Administrators and Curriculum Instructional Leaders provide continuous coaching and feedback for teachers.

TEACHING OPPORTUNITIES

The Weston Public School system takes pride in its highly qualified teaching staff and provides teachers new to the school system a formal induction program, individualized staff development, teacher mentors, and curriculum specialist support.  Ongoing professional development is a major focus of the district; providing teachers with opportunities to be lifelong learners.

We actively recruit teachers, administrators, and other employees who are highly qualified, have a passion for educational excellence, and who enjoy working in a high performing public education setting.    In order to identify the best candidates, we utilize our extensive network of contacts throughout the region and attend several high profile candidate recruiting fairs. Our community expects excellence, and the Human Resources Department is committed to recruiting educators and other employees who meet that expectation.

A Word

Superintendent

Excellence and compassion are at the heart of my professional beliefs, values and priorities. Intellectual rigor–using one’s mind well to solve complex problems–is of the utmost importance to me.  At the same time, compassion is paramount; our excellent students will be the keys to a civil, just, caring nation and world.  My multi-year goal is to guide Weston to even greater heights in its stated mission of “empowering each student to achieve success and contribute to our global society…and to serve as part of a caring and supportive community.”  Possibly more than ever before, our Nation and World need the dedicated minds, hearts and hands of our students and graduates.

-William S. McKersie, Ph.D.
