The DIVERSITY in Ed Watchlist

Reverend E. Gary Taylor

ABOUT
A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the Reverend Gary Taylor has been working with children for his entire career, beginning at the age of 17 when he became a cabin counselor at his beloved Episcopal summer camp in northern Ohio. After receiving his undergraduate degree from Yale College, Magna Cum Laude, Gary served three years at St. James School, an Episcopal boarding school in western Maryland.

From there he took his Master’s in Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and then joined the faculty at Wooster School, a K–12 Episcopal School in Danbury, Connecticut, where he served for 17 years as Dean of Students, Upper School Head, Assistant Head, and, eventually, as Chaplain. It was at Wooster where he heard his call to priesthood and so moved with his wife Karen and their three children to Alexandria, Virginia, to attend the Virginia Theological Seminary where he earned his Master of Divinity degree. Gary was appointed Chaplain at St. Anne’s School, in Middletown, Delaware, where he served three years before being called in 2014 to serve as Trinity’s seventh Head of School.
